The Beauty In Canning

I spent the afternoon doing a bit of canning.
A lot of work, yes.
Worth it, yes.
And as I stood in the kitchen with the pickles in jars, tomatoes in the basket, I realized that there is beauty in it.

And I am sharing that beauty with you.

A Quick Glimpse Of Girls Night Projects

Just a couple of looks at two of the things that we will be crafting at the upcoming Girls Night that I spoke of yesterday.

Since these are for fall projects, I chose to use shades of brown.....but do not worry, I WILL be putting in pops of color on the finished project!

A garland for fun!

It is a simple garland that only requires scissors and a glue stick for tools!
Jute twine and two sheets of card stock are the supplies needed.

Below.....A flower for the wreaths that we will be making.
A 23 cent sheet of flannel will score you at least 6 of these flowers. Add some of the jute twine and a button and you have a cute flower for a wreath, a hair pretty or even to tack on a lamp shade!

Again, if you would like to make either of these, let me know and I can make a download for the flower shapes and circles for the garland.

Have a great weekend all!

A Special Menu

I am having a small group of very special ladies for a crafting night at the end of the month.
We will be making burlap wreaths, swags, etc.....BUT!
There has to be food involved!
So since we are all responsible for a portion of the dinner that night, I created a fun little menu!

We will be putting flowers on the wreaths, so I have started the girls out with a flower on the menu that can be put on their wreath!

Each page of the menu is labeled with a girl's name, when that page is flipped up, the instructions for their part of the dinner are there. And they all know what the other gals are bringing!

Since the theme of the night is "burlap", I kept the menu on the shabby chic side of things.
If you would be interested in making these, please let me know and I can post a template for downloading.

Fast, Fun, Easy Dinner Idea

I try to "shake" things up now and again when it comes to get it on the table quick dinners.

This is what I did this week......

Pizza Burger Sliders!

Ingredients:
1# ground beef
1 egg
1/4 C. Italian bread crumbs (I made my own)
1 Tbl chopped fresh Basil
1 clove grated fresh garlic
1/4 C Parm Cheese (I used fresh grated)
Salt & Pepper

Jarred Pasta Sauce
Mozzarella or Provolone Cheese

Put everything in a bowl excluding the ground beef. Mix well.
Add the beef and mix just until combined (don't over mix!)

Make meatball sized balls of the mixture and then flatten to slider size.

Fry in a pan large enough to fit all of the sliders at the same time to avoid serving cold burgers.

After you have flipped them, place a tablespoon of your favorite jarred pasta sauce on each burger and then top with either mozzarella or provolone cheese (as much as you like) and allow the cheese to melt.

Serve with a nice Caesar Salad and you have a really quick and yummy week night dinner!

Popping In For A Moment

Just a quick update on life.

We are full steam ahead on the addition, having roofed it, installed all the windows and outside doorway.

Life is super crazy and there is work being done nearly every day of the week.

Some days small things are accomplished and other days much bigger tasks.

I am getting very antsy to have things further along, but I am also happy with what has been done.

Here are a few pictures of the roofing process....our Son-In-Law had his first ever experience with the roofing process and said in the end, "I am sore in places I didn't even know I could be sore in!"

This was NOT my first roofing adventure and I completely agree with the soreness thing! Ugh.

Above picture is our "ground crew"...and let me tell you, when it is 94* and you are on the roof, making multiple trips up and down for things like tape, water, bandages, etc is not a fun thing....but having a ground crew to toss thing up to you...priceless!

And what does a girl do to her tool belt that is just tooooo plain???? Add some sparkle of course!!
