What's Next, After The Kitchen?

Our Master Bath vanity has had it. Crumbling bottom, old vanity that was water damaged when given to us, but at the time we were so thrilled to be given a sink/vanity that we were completely willing to over-look the slight water damage.
I thought it was to be in there for a few years and then we would replace it. 18 years later, it looks so much worse. It has been re-painted and new drawer pulls added, however, the bottom of the vanity is getting much worse.

I really want to make my own out of an old SMALL dresser (the room is quite small and needs small to fit) so I have found a couple of inspiration photos.

I love the above vanity because of it's original paint (I think) and the small white vessel sink that leaves lots of room for "stuff" on each side.

The above vanity is the perfect size! I am not sure how I feel about not having a drawer or that the pipe is showing...hmmmmm.

The above dresser is amazing! Able to clean under it, no wood against the floor so damage will not be done when cleaning the floor, I just am not sure about the drop in sink....another hmmmmmm.

Let me know what you think!

Kithen Update!

I snapped a couple of really quick pictures this morning...it is a rainy one today and so the lighting is not the best.
Of course, I was able to turn on our two luscious new pendant lights over the breakfast bar...light LOVE!
These beauties have fabric shades (factory normal) but I have plans for them! Shocking, I know.
I am on the lookout for the perfect material that will just melt my heart...then I will recover the shades to delight my heart!
As you can see below, the soffits have been removed, the ceiling and walls repaired and you cannot even tell they ever existed!
Previously we had a single light above the breakfast bar, we had that hole covered and put up two boxes for the new lighting.

This is the counter we are debating over....it is granite, but we are checking out a couple of other options before pulling the trigger.

I will keep you "in the know" as soon as we finish the last of the decisions as far as back splash etc.
To this point we have a grand total of $456. invested in the "new" kitchen! That is for lighting, drywall and misc. I am sure the cost will go up quickly now that we are on the home stretch, but I am hoping to keep them as low as possible!
Have an amazing Tuesday.

Easy Flag Banner

I had seen this done before, but tried it for the first time myself for our Father's Day Décor.

The worlds easiest DIY flag banner!
First, go to your closet in which you keep all your mish-mosh material that you have not found a use for.
 I have plenty!

Find the pattern that works best for your particular project...I used an olive green solid and striped pattern that coordinated for Fathers Day to keep things a bit more masculine.

You will need 3 tools, heat bonding (like wonder under)

and either a 1 inch ribbon or a quilt binding.
The 3 tools are: an iron, sewing machine and pinking shears.

Iron the two materials together, bonding the "un-printed" sides together with the material bonding sheet.

When cooled, cut out triangles of your desired size, as many as you want!

Next, if you are using the 1 inch satin ribbon, fold it in half and place the top of your triangle into the fold. Now sew till you run out of triangles or you reach your desired length! (make sure to leave "tails" on each end of your banner to allow for tying up of the banner)

When you are done with the banner, if you fold each triangle back to front to back to front, you will have a very small bundle that will fit easily into a drawer for storage!

Shelf Paper, Or Something Like That...

We are moving ahead on the kitchen and I had to clean out my lower cabinets....
I wanted something fun for the "shelf" paper, so I got creative!
A cute vinyl table cloth was my answer. I cut it to fit the bottom of the cabinets and simply laid it in. It is super in-expensive and able to by wiped off.
My kind of shelf fun!

Father's Day At Our House

Our Father's Day celebration was a ton of fun!
I am not sure that my written narration would help at all for the following pictures, so I will simply "show" you what a wonderful day we had.

Thank you for visiting my blog!

A Little Something I Have Been Working On.

Have you ever been to one of those towns where they have one large pole and lots of arrowed street and sights signs?
I love that look. Directing me to where I need to go with about ten or twenty arrows with different information on them.

I decided that I wanted an arrow sign. We do a lot of parties in our yard during the summer months and it is just a necessity! (cough, cough)

I went to the basement, found a scrap piece of wood, looked at what I had on the spray paint shelf and to work I went.

This is what I came up with...using chalk board paint to enable me to put what ever my event is on the sign that will hang in our yard this weekend!

Details on how I made it coming tomorrow.

Light Dilemma.....

Nothing major, a small dilemma to say the least.

I was checking out the pictures of "Maple & Magnolia's" new sewing room when I noticed the lovely lights that she has in there.

They are VERY simple, custom colored and to me, very pretty!

So, do I do something fancy above my sink, or use a simple light that I can spray any wonderful pop of color that my little heart desires????

Decisions, decisions!?!?!?!?!?!

Maple & Magnolia
Another Thought!!!! I could paint the post and leave the light alone!

Or....a simple light with a beautiful shade?

Orrrrr, repurpose a beautiful bottle or vase into a pendant light?????

OK, I am going to stop now before my head explodes from to much thinking!!!

Your input is very, very welcome!!!
