Are you Symmetrical or Asymmetrical ?????

Why you ask??? Well, it does make a difference in your decorating, art, the way you "see" things, etc.

I, personally, am a TOTAL asymmetrical person. I love asymmetrical art. When I take photos, they are more often than not, taken in an asymmetrical way.

My fireplace is adorned in an asymmetrical way, with a huge mirror, not in the centre of the mantle, but hung off to one side, with a small picture and clock off to one side. In fact, I find that any grouping of photos or mirrors in my house are hung that way.

What is the difference you ask....well, here are a couple of examples:

The first picture of Mother/Daughter is a great example of an Asymmetrical photo....which leaves room at one side for the amazing building and background.
The second picture of Mother/Daughter is a Symmetrical one.
Both are good pictures, but my heart is drawn directly to the first one....I am just an of kilter kinda gal!

Have a superb weekend!!!!

Garden Gloves and Other Things....

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!!! Ours was glorious!!!! Family, friends, food, fun, fellowship, all come together after a fabulous church service, to make for the best day!!!!

Random discovery: I found out last night that if I talk into my phone, it will type out what I say for me!!! No more typing a text message again!!!!!!!!!!!! No more typing grocery lists.....no more typing things into my calender....the phone does it for me!

I know, this may not be news for all the savy phone owners out there, but it is one cool discovery for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who Knew?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

OK, back to the garden glove thing....I am notoriouse for loosing garden gloves (at this moment, I only own one glove :>( so I will by buying a new PAIR, as that is how they are to be...a pair!) so, when I found this idea, courtesy of Martha Stewart.com, I knew I would have to put this one into practice!

So, when I buy the new pair of gloves, I will also pick up a package of flat magnets in the craft department and sew them into the cuff of the gloves.....my buckets are already painted in pretty colors, so this will be a quick fix!

Have a superb Tuesday!!!!

p.s. I will post pictures of our Easter Table tomorrow!

I Love......

Getting calls from my children.....talking to them about "just stuff".

Last night I got another call from our son, Evan, just to talk. He lives 15 hours from us with his most wonderful family, serving the Lord in different areas at the church that they attend, working at the moment 2 jobs and being a great Dad.

I am so blessed that he still loves his Mom and WANTS to spend those moment on the phone catching me up with all that is going on in his life right now.

I am the mother of 3 of the most wonderful children ever.....only one lives here in our area, our oldest lives 7 hours north of us, and our only son lives 15 hours south of us......life is never without it's phone calls, and I am so blessed!!!

I LOVE BEING A MOM!!!

Here is a picture of our "little boy" who will always be our son, but is no longer our child, as he is a husband and father himself, and still loves his Mommy and Daddy.....who is the other man in this photo, my sweet husband....at Mardi Gras 2010.....

Ahhhhhhh, Spring Cleaning

Yes, I said "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"!

I love organizing, cleaning and the results I get when it is all completed!

I know, I know,....that makes me a tad "weird", but I love accomplishment! It makes me feel alot less guilty when I sit on the couch and watch a movie, or take time for myself (which does not happen often enough) as accomplishing something from my TO DO list rewards me with this!

I make a "to do" list BUT, I also add REWARDS to it ~ you see, things like: clean closets.......watch a movie, wash windows.......buy flowers, clean out cupboards........buy paint for project, etc. etc. etc.

The "rewards" are not, nor do they have to ever be, things that cost money. They can be something as simple as a bubble bath, or watching a movie....without guilt! They can be things that do cost money, such as buying paint for a fun project that I would like to do on a weekend, or flowers to plant in my front of the house flower pots.

I started this last year and am continuing it this year too....not that I won't go above and beyond normal cleaning unless I am rewarded.....but just a bit of fun at the end of a taxing cleaning project that makes that project a tiny bit easier to accomplish!

Said project this past Saturday.....my husbands closet and my own......they both look amazing and I am hoping to keep them that way for a very long time!

Have an amazing Monday!!!

Something Old, Something New........

Something not borrowed or blue!

I took an hour a couple of weeks ago and snuck into and antique shop (probably to drown my sorrows after the 3 munchkins left with their Mommy to NOLA) and found the most beautiful frame hanging there just telling me (not audibly, because that would mean there is something terribly wrong with me!) to choose it for a project that I had been working on for our Daughter and Son-In-Law.

I had done a photo shoot with the two newlyweds for their 1 year anniversary and the pictures were just adorable, as the couple is, and I decided to take one of those photos and make it a canvas print.

Interruption here: They do not know about this yet, so don't tell them!!!! Oh wait! Amanda reads my blog....oops!! They know now!

The canvas turned out sooo nice, and I thought it would be even more wonderful with an antique frame. Thus the sneak to the antique shop........and what a score!

As you can see, it is a bit beat up and not at all the color that they would like, so off to my backyard to change the color and make it an amazing creamy white that just looks so stunning with the black and white canvas..............

The frame is still aged, still a bit beat up, but I think that just adds to the beauty. I find it to symbolize the walking off into their future, hand in hand to spend many, many years growing old together.

Lovely.

Between Crosses and Crowns

That is where we are...between Crosses and Crowns! Living in the times of God's choosing, between the time that Jesus took on all our sin at the Cross (and won, by the way!!) and the Crowns that we will lay at His feet when in heaven......praying that you all have entered that relationship with Him to enable you to lay down those crosses!

Easter is coming soon, Good Friday is 3 weeks from today!!! Wow!

I love this time of year...spring blooming, the old dead look of winter being taken over by the lovely sights of new birth in the greening of the grass, blooming of early flowers and blossoming of the trees... such a wonderful sight!

Funny though, I am going to set an Easter table for family this year with a rather color-less (all white linens and centerpieces) table scape...hmmmmmm, am I missing something here???? NOPE!!

I do not want anything to overshadow what the Lord has done for us with His sacrifice....eternal life with my Savior and there is nothing that is more beautiful than the gift that His rising again has given to all who accept it!

I am not going to be void of love, laughter, prayer, or joy......just the clutter of lots of things that may be the focus and not the reason for the day.

As a sneak peek to our table for this Holy Day.... a picture of 3 crosses that I have painted to fit our celebration table.

(forgive the background....we have boxes upon boxes of flooring in the room)
