A Re-Post Of Autumn Jars

Old, un-usable jars have now become something quite pretty and very usable!
The Large one in the middle has leaves for decor, I simply strolled out to my back yard and pulled the small supple leaves from a Maple tree and taped them to the jar. Added some decorative scroll work with blue painters tape and sponged on pumpkin colored paint specific for glass. (found at Jo-Annes for 1.29 a bottle)
The Smallest jar is a wink and a nudge to the plaid found on flannel shirts!
Warm, cozy flannel....ahhhhhhhhhhh, love my fall weather!

And the other small jar is of course a pumpkin!
Put in a tea light and voile! Both of the small jars are from pasta sauce, which does not allow for canning usage. I do re-use said jars for storing spices, baking supplies etc. or use in the fridge for onion storage (with lids of course!) to keep that onion odor from infesting other foods.
Have an amazing weekend!!

Want A Fun Project Idea?

Ok! This is what my kitchen island looked like a few days ago...and I needed to do something with all this bounty!
Compound Butters!!! Yes, I sat down and wrote a few "recipes" for some yummy compound butters.
They are easily frozen, and make great gifts!
I will share all with you as soon as I get them off
my little chicken scratch papers and onto my computer!

Our Yard

Is a very dangerous place these days.
The black walnut trees are dropping their treasure.
Walking without looking down is HIGHLY discouraged!

Pretty, Pretty Pumpkins

On Saturday, I had a bit of time to do a couple
of projects. Yeah!
One was to get some pumpkins in the front of our house, because it just isn't fall without pumpkins!
I wanted to do something fun, so this is what I did!
First, buy pumpkins!

My next need was a stencil.
But not just any stencil, one that was custom
for us, with our initial on it.
Sitting down at my computer, hooked up to my cricket, I created one that I liked.
Not loved, but it would do, nicely.
I choose a light weight card stock to cut the stencil out of, so of course it needed to fit on the round pumpkin....hmmmm, I got my spray bottle out, sprayed the card stock (after it was cut) and made it malleable for the roundness of the pumpkin.
 Yeah, it worked!
I choose an outside paint, as these will be outside of the house. And stencil I did!
I thinkest I do like it!
They look much bigger in real life!

I do like them Sam I am.
I do, I do like them, yessss ma'am!

Can You Guess....

What this is?????

While at the antique mall the other day
I ran across this contraption.
I thought it was one thing, but it was soooooooooo
not what I thought it was!
So, what do you think?

Hint: the base is about and 18 inch diameter
(it is sitting on a table)
and about 6 inches high.
The jar on top is a one to two quart canning type jar.

A Girls Saturday

This past Saturday, a couple of girlfriends,
my daughter and I had the opportunity
to go to our local central park and take part
in the festivities that were "Taste of Fiesta"

(top picture, Dianna, middle pic, Kathy and bottom pic, Amanda, who was having a conversation while eating, she was not irritated at anyone!)

Yummo food, which did not stay around long,

Random visitors and things appeared,

and then we walked to the local antique mall!
You know, there are some interesting things there,
one, I am not even sure why anyone would want it...

Really?

And of course, the just for fun stuff!

Making It Special

You know me, I love to make things special for the ones I love and I did it once again while I still had the chance to spoil my munchkins.
I made healthy organic sugar free doughnut holes for them and then, gilded the lilly a bit!

Here is a link to the doughnuts if you would like:

And I took pictures of the festivities, I know that shocks you....not!

Enjoy!

I think it was a hit!

Love Day!!!

I am in love with these amazing clothes pins!
I have not idea where they came from,
so if any of you know, please tell!!!!
I am kinda obsessing on turquouise these days.
I have my turqouise potting bench on the patio
and am getting ready to paint the metal part of
the patio table bright orange. To much?
didn't think so!
But I do love the calmness of this look too....
hmmmmm.
Photo from house of turquouse.

Fall! I love fall! I love the colors, I love the coolness,
I love the activities, I just LOVE fall!!!
I will be taking my first fall stroll through antique stores
and fall festival this weekend. I plan to take
lots of photos and fill my head with
all kinds of projects to be done....
so keep coming back to see what is happening

How Do You Live?

The other day, our youngest Daughter
and I were walking through our town's
new fabric store.
As we gazed at all the crafty things, beautiful
fabrics and talked about all the things
that we could do,
we came across an isle
that had fall decor in it.
Not unusual this
time of the year, and since it is both hers
and my favorite season of the year,
we looked at every single thing!
One thing struck me in the heart.
A simple hand towel.
Now the towel itself was nothing extravagant.
It was, however, the message it held that moved me so.
"Live Thankful"
Wow!!!!
All the things that I see this time of the year simply
state Be Thankful. And I am.
But this one challenges the reader to LIVE THANKFUL.
Now that is something that we do IF we think about it.
But do we live that way every moment of the day?
No.
Life gets in the way and there are things that we are not thankful for....like spider bites, dirty floors, jobs or the lack of one, and the list goes on and on.

So I am challenging myself to LIVE THANKFUL
each moment, each day.
Live life thankful for ALL that comes my way.

"Oh The Many, Many Things"

That I see, this time inside my home.

A colorful planter & candlestick adorn the dining room.

Colorful tomatoes decorate the kitchen window.

Our little neighbor girl gifted me with a pipe cleaner flower that she had made "just for you".

Who doesn't need bells in the laundry room?????

Summer is flip flop time in our home,
and we have baskets full to prove it!

And of course, who could be without goggles and an alphabet puzzle on the coffee table.
I mean, I may need them at any second!!!
